Ahead of the first F1 Grand Prix next week, Apple has announced a new partnership with Netflix in the US. Through this deal, Apple will make the entire new season (season eight) of Formula 1: Drive to Survive available on Apple TV.
Additionally, Apple says the F1 Canadian Grand Prix will stream on both Apple TV and Netflix as part of this deal in May.
Formula 1: Drive to Survive is a popular documentary series produced in collaboration between Netflix and Formula One. It offers a behind-the-scenes look at the drivers and races of the Formula One World Championship.
In a statement today to 9to5Mac, Apple’s services boss Eddy Cue credited Netflix and Drive to Survive with broadening the F1 audience:
“We’re excited today to announce something I think that no one was expecting, and that is that we’ve teamed up with Netflix. And we’re going to make the entire season of F1: Drive to Survive, the new season, available to stream right within Apple TV itself. This is the new season eight, it drops tonight at midnight.
“In addition to that, we’ve collaborated together so that the Canadian Grand Prix, which is on May 22nd, is also going to stream on Apple TV and Netflix in the US.
“As you know, Netflix, I think, has played a pivotal role in growing F1 since the launch of Drive to Survive, and we’re thrilled to make F1 content more broadly available to new and existing US fans on both Netflix and Apple TV.”
Season eight of Drive to Survive debuts at midnight tonight. It includes eight episodes and covers the 2025 Formula One World Championship.
The first F1 Grand Prix of the year is on March 7, with the Formula 1 Qatar Airways Australian Grand Prix 2026. Starting this year, Apple TV subscribers can stream all F1 races at no extra charge.
